Our CCD programs are an effort of the Parish
Community to provide a supplementary education in the faith of the Church. The
parents are primarily responsible for the development of their children. How a child
prays and worships God and how he or she relates to others in a Christian way
are values which children are already experiencing when they begin CCD in first
grade and are values which grow because of the religious environment of the
home.
The Eucharist, the center of our life of faith, is the focal point of religious
education and growth in faith. The main purpose of the programs offered by our
CCD program is to reinforce a Eucharistic spirituality.
The CCD program seeks to assist parents in their task of instructing children
in the Catholic faith - our beliefs, values and practices. It also strives to
assist parents in teaching the children what it means to be a follower of
Jesus. The program of instruction for children in kindergarten through grade 8
presents the concepts of God, the Commandments, the Sacraments, Works of Mercy,
Mary, Saints and Church in a manner appropriate to the children's level of
understanding. The program also encourages service to the Christian community.
